DIRECT MEASUREMENTS OF TOTAL REACTION CROSS SECTIONS BETWEEN HEAVY IONS FROM 10 TO 100 MeV/amu : PRELIMINARY CONCLUSIONS
نویسنده
چکیده
After a review of some theoretical formulations of the concept of total reaction cross OR, involving low energy (4 10 MeV/amu) and high energy (> GeV/amu) models, two experimental methods used for direct measurements of q, are presented, namely the "beam attenuation" and the "associated y-rays 4 a detection" nethods. Then a number of experimental results of OR in the Fermi energy range i s given and the data are compared on the one hand with the predictions of the "low energy" BASS model (assuming a classical onedimensional nucleus-nucleus potential interaction), and on the other hand with the predictions of a "high-energy" microscopic calculation performed using the formalism of KAROL (assuming that nuclear reactions are produced by individual nucleon-nucleon interactions). Finally, some experimental and theoretical problems are discussed and general conclusions are tentatively proposed.

Post - Prior discrepancies in CDW - EIS calculations for ion impact ionization fully differential cross sections
In this work we present fully differential cross sections (FDCSs) calculations using post and prior version of CDW–EIS theory for helium single ionization by 100 MeV C 6+ amu −1 and 3.6 MeV amu −1 Au 24+ and Au 53+ ions. We performed our calculations for different momentum transfer and ejected electron energies. The influence of internuclear potential on the ejected electron spectra is taken in...
متن کاملHyperspherical close-coupling calculations for charge transfer cross sections in Si4+ + H(D) and Be4+ + H collisions at low energies
Total and partial electron capture cross sections are calculated for Si4+ + H(1s)/D(1s) collisions from 1 meV amu−1 to 1 keV amu−1, and for Be4+ + H(1s) collisions from 2.5 eV amu−1 up to 1 keV amu−1, using the recently developed hyperspherical close-coupling (HSCC) approach. For both systems, our results are in good agreement with calculations based on the molecular orbital expansion method in...
متن کاملRecent Results from CVD-Diamond Heavy-Ion Detectors
Latest results from radiation hardness measurements as well as single-particle pulse shape parameters, pulse-height distributions and time spectra are presented. An intrinsic time resolution of 29 ps is achieved with 52Cr ions of 650 MeV/amu and of 53 ps with 12C ions of 1.5 GeV/amu, respectively. The resolution is by 20% worse when increasing the beam intensity from 106 ions/s to 108 ions/s. P...
متن کاملDouble ionization of helium by fast bare ion collisions
A time-dependent close-coupling method is developed to treat the double ionization of helium by fast bare ion collisions. At high incident energies, charge transfer to the projectile is quite small, so that the two-electron wavefunction remains centred on the target, subject to a time-dependent projectile interaction. A multipole expansion of the projectile–atom interaction includes monopole, d...
متن کاملA pr 2 01 7 Experimental probe on the production of 97 Ru from 7 Li + 93 Nb reaction : A study on the precompound emissions
Background: Interaction of weakly bound heavy-ions with an intermediate or heavy target is not yet understood completely due to the scarcity of experimental data. In order to develop a clear understanding of breakup fusion or preequilibrium emission even at low energy range, 3–10 MeV/nucleon, more experimental investigations are necessary. Purpose: Study of reaction mechanisms involved in the w...
